eVOLT Testing

The emergence of electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) aircraft and Urban Air Mobility (UAM) platforms represents a revolutionary leap in transportation, demanding an unprecedented level of integrated safety and reliability validation. Sanwood designs and manufactures the advanced environmental test chambers required to certify these complex vehicles, combining the rigorous demands of aerospace with the unique challenges of high-density electric propulsion and autonomous flight systems. Our solutions simulate the full operational envelope of an eVTOL vehicle—from the thermal and power-load stresses of repeated vertiport takeoff/landing cycles to the high-altitude cruise conditions and the extreme weather events it must withstand on the ground. We support the qualification of critical systems, including lift-and-cruise propulsion batteries, distributed electric motors, flight control computers, composite airframe structures, and sensor suites, helping manufacturers meet evolving standards from EASA, FAA (ASTM F44), CAAC, and MIL-STD-810H/DO-160G.

Many countries and regions have begun to pay attention to the management and development of low-altitude airspace, and have formulated corresponding laws, regulations and standards to ensure flight safety. There are many types and sizes of low-altitude economic products. Sanwood environmental test chambers, from bench-top environmental test chambers to large walk-in environmental test chambers, can simulate the transportation, storage, operation and other performance of various products in their different use environments, and test the quality and reliability of products. The following are some common test standards for low-altitude economic products:

  • ISO/IEC 27001
  • ISO 9001
  • IEC 61000
  • FCC Part 15
  • MIL-STD-810
  • RTCA DO-160
  • GR-63-CORE
  • IEC 60950-1
  • IEC 62368-1
  • 3GPP
  • ETSI EN 300 019

As more countries and regions pay more attention to the management of low-altitude airspace, the safety performance and standards of low-altitude economic products and equipment have become more stringent; therefore, environmental test chambers are needed to ensure the operating performance and safety of various aircraft, communication equipment and operating servers in the low-altitude field. Some of the equipment below:

  • UAVs
  • Helicopters
  • eVTOL
  • Agricultural aircraft
  • Light aircraft
  • Emergency rescue aircraft
  • Communication network equipment
  • Navigation network equipment
  • Perception network equipment
  • Digital processor
  • Communication box
  • Controller
  • Switch rack
  • Transmitter
  • Communication Equipment

The inspection and testing of low-altitude economic products is not only our regular environmental conditions, but also needs to meet the test and inspection in various extreme environments. Because the use environment of low-altitude economic products is diverse, it may be a high-source desert, it may be a humid forest, it may be the extremely cold north, especially high altitude and low pressure, etc. Sanwood environmental test chamber can simulate various high temperature, low temperature, humidity, low pressure, vibration and other climate environments to help ensure their reliability and stability under actual conditions.

  • Temperature: It can be used to test the simulation of environmental change tests such as high temperature, low temperature, alternating humidity and heat, and constant humidity and heat from -70℃ to +180℃.
  • Vibration: Simulate the vibration effects of product transportation and measure the stress impact of strong vibration on parts during these processes.
  • Humidity: It can simulate humidity in different temperature environment and maintain 85% humidity for 1000 hours under high temperature conditions of +85 ℃.
  • High Altitude: It can simulate high altitude environment or specific low pressure conditions to ensure that the equipment can be tested under the predetermined low pressure.
  • Salt spray: Test the corrosion resistance of products or materials and evaluate the corrosion resistance of samples under different environmental conditions.
  • Vibration: Simulate the vibration effect of product during transportation and measure the stress impact of strong vibrations on parts during these processes.
  • Rain: Using the high-speed water flow generated by high-pressure nozzles, water mist is formed into droplets to test the waterproof and weather resistance of vehicles.
  • Stress: Evaluate product performance and defects by applying different levels of load and simulating long-term usage conditions for testing.
